Time is the ingredient
Plums and raisins go in to soak long before anything is baked, and the cake is then left to mature rather than sold the day it comes out of the oven. That is what turns it dark and makes the fruit disappear into the crumb instead of sitting in it. There is no way to make this cake quickly, which is most of why it tastes the way it does.
We make 90 cakes a month. Not because demand stops there, but because that is how many can be made this way: fruit soaked for weeks, the best butter and spices we can buy, and one pair of hands.
Two versions, and you choose
The family-friendly plum cake is soaked in juice and contains no alcohol. It is what we send unless you say otherwise, so it can go on any table.
The with-spirit version is matured with a little alcohol, which gives it a deeper, warmer finish. It is clearly labelled on the storefront, at checkout, on your receipt and on the box.
Which one should you order
Pick the Plum if you want the darker, older, more serious cake, or if you are buying for someone who says they do not really like cake, because this one often changes their mind. Pick the Fruit Cake if the table has children, or if you want something lighter with tea. One order can hold both.
If you need it to fit a diet
Vegan, gluten free, extra nuts and seeds and a jaggery-and-date sweetness are all available, chosen per cake at checkout, and explained on the diet options page.
We bake in a home kitchen that also handles wheat, nuts, egg, dairy and dried-fruit sulphites. An option means the recipe is made without that ingredient; it is never a promise of zero traces. If you have a serious allergy, please message us before ordering.

The same price for everyone, always. Eggless costs the same as egg, because nobody should pay extra to eat with their family.
How ordering works
- Pick your cakes and sizes. One order can hold different cakes, each with its own size and options.
- Choose any option you want on each cake: eggless, vegan, gluten free, extra nuts and seeds or a jaggery-and-date sweetness.
- Pick a delivery day from the calendar. Whatever you order arrives together, on that one day.
- Pay online. We bake for that morning and one of us brings it to your door.
We hand deliver across the Bengaluru pincodes we cover, up to three cakes a day. Pick a delivery time when you order; same day if one is still open, since every time needs at least three hours' notice to bake, otherwise the earliest is tomorrow.
Questions people ask
Does the plum cake contain alcohol?
Only if you choose the with-spirit version, which is labelled and intended for adults (18+). The family-friendly version is soaked in juice and contains none, and it is the one we send unless you pick otherwise.
What makes it different from the fruit cake?
It is darker, denser and matured for longer, so the plums and raisins almost melt into the crumb. The fruit cake is lighter and more spiced. Neither is the fancy one; they are different cakes.
Can I get it eggless?
Yes, at the same price, as its own recipe rather than a substitution.
Is it very sweet?
Less than most. The sweetness comes mostly from the fruit itself, and there is a jaggery-and-date-sweetened option if you want it dialled back further.
Is it a Christmas cake?
It is what most people mean by one, and December is when we bake the most of them. It is just as good in July with a cup of tea.
