Christmas
Christmas cake in Bengaluru, made the slow way
The fruit for December has been soaking since long before anyone started thinking about Christmas. That is the whole trick, and there is no way to hurry it.
Why a December cake starts in autumn
A Christmas cake is mostly waiting. The dried fruit soaks for weeks until it is soft and jammy, and the plum cake is then matured further so the fruit sinks into the crumb. A cake made to order in two days is a different thing wearing the same name.
We make ninety cakes a month. Not because demand stops there, but because that is how many can be made this way: fruit soaked for weeks, the best butter and spices we can buy, and one pair of hands.
Which cake for which table
The Plum Cake is the traditional one: dark, dense, properly fruity, with a with-spirit version for the adults and a family-friendly one that contains no alcohol at all. The Fruit Cake is lighter and spiced, soaked in juice, and the safer pick when children are at the table.
Book the day, not just the cake
December is the month our three-a-day limit actually bites. The days around Christmas fill first, and once a day is full it comes off the calendar for everyone. If a particular date matters to you, pick it early rather than close to the time.
Buying for someone else
Send the cake straight to their address, or send a gift card and let them pick their own cake, size and delivery day. The card arrives by email with your note on it, and it stays good for a year, so it works even if you are early.
Diets at a full table
Vegan, gluten free, eggless, high protein and lower sugar are all available and cost nothing extra, chosen per cake so one order can suit everybody. There is a page explaining each option.
We bake in a home kitchen that also handles wheat, nuts, egg, dairy and dried-fruit sulphites. An option means the recipe is made without that ingredient; it is never a promise of zero traces. If you have a serious allergy, please message us before ordering.
Sizes and prices
| Size | Fruit Cake | Plum Cake |
|---|---|---|
| 500g loaf | ₹1,000 | ₹1,100 |
| 1kg | ₹1,800 | ₹1,900 |
| 1.5kg festive tin | ₹2,600 | ₹3,000 |
The same price for everyone, always. Eggless costs the same as egg, because nobody should pay extra to eat with their family.
How ordering works
- Pick your cakes and sizes. One order can hold different cakes, each with its own size and options.
- Choose any option you want on each cake: eggless, vegan, gluten free, high protein or less sugar.
- Pick a delivery day from the calendar. Whatever you order arrives together, on that one day.
- Pay online. We bake for that morning and one of us brings it to your door.
We hand deliver across the Bengaluru pincodes we cover, up to three cakes a day. Order before 1pm and we can often bring it the same day; after that the earliest is tomorrow.
Questions people ask
When should I order a Christmas cake?
Earlier than feels necessary. We bake three cakes a day and December days fill first, so the good delivery dates go early. The calendar at checkout shows exactly which days are still free.
Which one is the traditional Christmas cake?
Most people mean the plum cake: dark, matured, heavy with fruit. The fruit cake is the lighter, spiced one. Plenty of families order both, and one order can hold both.
Can I send one as a present?
Yes. Order it to their address, or buy a gift card and let them choose their own cake and delivery day. The card arrives by email with a note from you.
Do you deliver on Christmas Day itself?
Delivery days are whatever the calendar shows as free, and the days right around Christmas go first. Book the day you want rather than assuming it will still be there.
Is there an alcohol-free Christmas cake?
Yes. The fruit cake is soaked in juice and never contains alcohol, and the plum cake has a family-friendly version. Only the with-spirit plum contains alcohol, and it is labelled 18+.
