The Fruit Cake
Fruit cake, made by hand in Bengaluru
A light, spiced fruit cake built on fruit that has been soaking for weeks. Nothing in it is there to make it cheaper or last longer.
The soak is most of the cake
Weeks before it looks like a cake, it is a jar of dried fruit going quietly soft. We soak in seasonal juice, apple, dark grape or orange depending on what is good that month, until the fruit is plump and jammy rather than chewy. That long wait is where nearly all the flavour comes from, and it is the part that cannot be hurried or bought in.
Because the soak is juice, the whole table can eat it. Children included, and anyone who would rather keep the afternoon clear. That was a deliberate choice, not a compromise.
What goes in
Good dried fruit, real nuts, proper butter, and warm spice that you can taste without it shouting. No preservatives, no palm shortening, no essence standing in for the real thing. You can have it with egg or eggless at the same price, and the eggless version is its own recipe rather than the same one with something taken out.
We make ninety cakes a month. Not because demand stops there, but because that is how many can be made this way: fruit soaked for weeks, the best butter and spices we can buy, and one pair of hands.
How it differs from our Plum Cake
The Fruit Cake is the lighter of the two: spiced, golden, easy with tea, and the one to pick if the table includes children or anyone who finds a dark cake heavy. The Plum Cake is darker and denser, matured for longer, and comes in two versions, one of them for adults only. People often order one of each, which a single order can hold.
If you need it to fit a diet
Every cake can be made vegan, gluten free, high protein or with less sugar, chosen per cake at checkout. There is a page on how each of those options changes the cake.
We bake in a home kitchen that also handles wheat, nuts, egg, dairy and dried-fruit sulphites. An option means the recipe is made without that ingredient; it is never a promise of zero traces. If you have a serious allergy, please message us before ordering.
Prices start at ₹1,000 and every cake is delivered by hand across Bengaluru.
Sizes and prices
| Size | Fruit Cake | Plum Cake |
|---|---|---|
| 500g loaf | ₹1,000 | ₹1,100 |
| 1kg | ₹1,800 | ₹1,900 |
| 1.5kg festive tin | ₹2,600 | ₹3,000 |
The same price for everyone, always. Eggless costs the same as egg, because nobody should pay extra to eat with their family.
How ordering works
- Pick your cakes and sizes. One order can hold different cakes, each with its own size and options.
- Choose any option you want on each cake: eggless, vegan, gluten free, high protein or less sugar.
- Pick a delivery day from the calendar. Whatever you order arrives together, on that one day.
- Pay online. We bake for that morning and one of us brings it to your door.
We hand deliver across the Bengaluru pincodes we cover, up to three cakes a day. Order before 1pm and we can often bring it the same day; after that the earliest is tomorrow.
Questions people ask
What is the fruit soaked in?
Seasonal juice: apple, dark grape or orange, depending on what is good that month. It is a cake the whole table can share, children included.
Can I get it eggless?
Yes, and at the same price. The eggless version is its own recipe rather than a substitution, so the crumb still holds together properly.
How long does it keep?
About a week at room temperature in its tin or wrapped well, and longer in the fridge. It is a cake built on soaked fruit, so it gets a little better for the first couple of days.
What is in it?
Dried fruit, nuts, butter, flour, sugar, eggs unless you order it eggless, and warm spice. No preservatives and no shortcuts. The full allergen list is on the home page.
How far ahead should I order?
As early as you can, because we bake three cakes a day and days fill up. Order before 1pm and we can often deliver the same day.
